ZSR is a stitchless circumcision technique performed with a disposable circumcision device that removes the foreskin and seals the wound in a single step. A ring of silicone-coated staples is placed around the incision line as the tissue is divided, so bleeding is controlled at the moment of the cut. The staple ring separates on its own as the wound heals. Nothing needs to be removed afterwards.
Conventional circumcision involves cutting, tying off blood vessels and hand-suturing the wound.
The ZSR technique differs in several practical ways:
ZSR circumcision is used for phimosis, recurrent balanitis, a tight or non-retractile foreskin, and by choice for religious or hygiene reasons.
It is not the right answer for everyone. Mild phimosis often responds to topical treatment without surgery, and some anatomical variations are better managed conventionally. This is assessed at consultation.

Local anaesthesia means you should not feel pain during the procedure. Afterwards there is soreness and swelling for several days, managed with oral painkillers.
Most men resume desk work within 2 days. Physically demanding work and exercise should wait longer — usually two weeks.
Wait at least four weeks, or until reviewed at follow-up.
As with any surgical procedure, there is a small risk of bleeding, infection, swelling or delayed healing. These are uncommon and usually managed easily. Risks specific to your case are discussed before you consent.
Circumcision does not affect fertility. Reported effects on sensation vary between individuals and are discussed at consultation.
When circumcision is performed for a medical indication such as phimosis or recurrent infection, insurance may cover it. Cosmetic or religious circumcision is usually not covered. We can help establish which applies to you.
